As a German industrial automation company, AZO faced the task to keep Microsoft Teams as well-structured as the environment, employees and IT were used to from their SharePoint On-Premises platform.

There was no doubt that Teams would be the next step to digitalize their company – but the challenge was still to move the standardized and well-organized environment to the cloud. To keep everything in order, Teams Manager was the right choice for AZO as they were capable of creating predefined templates with naming conventions, Team structure and lifecycles. It helped keep everything easy and barrier-free for the end-users.

“Since integrating Teams Manager into our Teams Client, giving our users the possibility to effortlessly create Teams from a predefined set of templates, we finally got to a set and strict process of governing Teams while also generating a great overview and control over all created Teams.“Tim Baumgartl, Software Engineer at AZO

AZO’s Challenges

German industrial automation company AZO needed to ensure an organized Microsoft Teams environment for their employees and IT. AZO was used to SharePoint On-Premises, where they had a lot of options and features for the specification of permissions, naming conventions and structure. There was no doubt that Teams would be the next step to digitalize their company – but the challenge was to move the existing, standardized environment together with the end-users and their adoption program to the cloud.

Our solution for AZO

Teams Manager was the right choice for AZO as it enabled them to introduce governance and still keep their users engaged. Naming conventions for Team names, OneNotes and Planners helped with sensible names. Lifecycle settings archived inactive or obsolete Teams. Templates allow admins to create structures with channels, applications, a unique set of user permissions, folder structures and even pre-defined content in Planner and OneNote. Users were able to request new Teams, which approvers checked first.

AZO’s Benefits

AZO users save time every day due to a clean, structured Teams environment. They do not have to search any longer for specific content or up-to-date information due to applied naming conventions. The internal IT department of AZO is now able to maintain their environment with minimum effort and still has a great structure based on their needs and business processes. And most important of all, the users do not need to take additional steps to create a new Team. AZO is able to safely use Teams as a powerful collaboration tool.

Since December 2019, AZO is successfully using Microsoft Teams in their environment with the structure and support of Teams Manager

Up to 1,000 users worldwide work with Teams Manager every day and have already created 80 well-structured Teams.

Teams Manager made it possible for AZO to maintain the Microsoft Teams environment with just one person.
